Systems Engineer – Air Traffic Management Programs

Cleared Recruitment are partnering with a global leader in safety‑critical communication and information systems to recruit an experienced Systems Engineer for a long‑term, high‑profile Air Traffic Management program supporting both civil and military aviation in Australia.

This role sits on a nationally significant program that is modernising and harmonising air traffic control operations across Australia. You will work on complex, mission‑critical systems in a highly regulated environment alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The Opportunity

As a Systems Engineer, you will be involved across the full system lifecycle, from requirements and design through to integration, testing, and customer acceptance. You will work directly with stakeholders in aviation, defence, and government environments, contributing to systems where safety, availability, and reliability are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop strong technical knowledge of complex communication and control systems
• Perform requirements analysis and system engineering design activities
• Install, deploy, configure, and integrate systems in customer environments
• Conduct system, integration, and acceptance testing, including fault identification
• Produce high‑quality technical documentation and interface descriptions
• Support formal test and acceptance activities with end customers
• Engage directly with customers on technical matters and operational scenarios
• Contribute to internal and external deliverable acceptance
• Travel to client sites within Australia and occasionally overseas as required

About You

You are a hands‑on Systems Engineer who enjoys working in complex, regulated, and safety‑critical environments.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in systems engineering or project‑based technical roles
• Strong experience deploying and managing Linux-based systems
• Background in system specification, integration, and testing
• Experience with voice communication systems or mission‑critical environments
  (e.g. Air Traffic Control, Rail, Public Safety, Control Centres, Defence)
• Understanding of safety‑critical engineering principles
• Experience working under government or defence frameworks (e.g. ASDEFCON)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, IT, Software, or a related discipline
